The Azar Group has a long and rich history in Ghana, dating back to 1919 when Joseph Azar arrived in Ghana and established his first store, Joseph Azar and Sons, in Accra. Initially a general trader, he later specialized in paints and hardware-related products, and the store was eventually renamed City Paints Supply Ltd. By the 1940s, the company had expanded to a new and larger store in Tudu, which became the largest hardware store in Ghana by the 1960s.

In 1968, the Azar family diversified into paint manufacturing and founded Azar Chemical Industries Ltd., which was later joined with City Paints Supply Ltd. to form the Azar Group. The company has continued to grow and expand over the years, and in 2016, it opened new corporate offices and a factory at 88 Spintex Road, which includes extensive manufacturing facilities and another City Paints Supply store.

Today, the Azar Group is one of the largest diversified industrial manufacturers in West Africa and Ghana, with over 600 employees. The company’s focus on quality products and customer service, along with its commitment to innovation and growth, has helped it establish a strong reputation in the market.
